End child maintenance cost for #VAWG survivors
Stop charging survivors of domestic abuse 4% child maintenance
As part of its campaign to end violence against women and girls, Mothers' Union has launched a petition calling on the UK Government to end the 4% charge that the Government currently makes on child maintenance arrangements. Survivors of domestic abuse risk further abuse from contact with an abusive partner if they make a family-based arrangement for ongoing financial support of their children. We believe this puts them at risk. With the only safe choice being to seek a formal arrangement through the Child Maintenance process, we are petitioning the Secretary of State for Work & Pensions to drop the 4% levy on payments to survivors of domestic abuse.
