We are an active diocese supporting Mothers' Union projects, childrens groups, local hospitals and prisons. We have groups comprising of members within the diocese meeting regularly and organising their own programmes, keeping prayer at the centre of everything we do.

Our work includes:

  • Funding much needed ‘Away From It All’ holidays

  • Our caravan on the coast providing holidays to families in need of a break

  • Knitting projects - tiny clothes, blankets and shawls for the neonatal unit at local hospitals, fiddle pinnies and muffs for dementia patients

  • Toy bags in our churches

  • Joy boxes

  • Support for local and national Mothers’ Union projects in this country and overseas

  • Support for prison chaplains particularly in their work with the children and families of prisoners. Also so with the Probationary Service in providing essential items for released prisoners in Approved Premises

  • We hold regular quiet (sometimes not so quiet), prayerful events within the diocese, at deaneries and in branch meetings, we also hold a service each year on or around Mary Sumner Day, recently at our beautiful cathedral in Blackburn.

To get involved you can contact your parish Mothers' Union, deanery or diocesan leaders. Find details online or more locally in your church magazines. Offer your skills, your help to raise funds to support to help projects to succeed and flourish, or speak to other people who are already involved, your support will be welcomed and appreciated.
