The Mary Sumner Room accommodates up to 36 delegates in a theatre-style layout and features original stained-glass windows, modern AV technology, and flexible layouts to suit your business needs. Located in the heart of Westminster, our meeting room offers an inspiring environment for productive meetings, whilst just minutes from major transport links.

The history behind our Mary Sumner Room

Mary Sumner was a pioneering woman who founded the Mother’s Union  in 1876 from her home in Hampshire. Her vision was to unite all mothers bringing up children in faith. The Mary Sumner Room honours her memory and showcases a portrait of the Foundress of Mothers’ Union.

The Mary Sumner Room is one of two period rooms and holds special historical significance as the home of the Mothers Union Royal Charter, granted by King George V in 1926, alongside their official Coat of Arms, which was granted the following year in 1927. These features add to the room’s unique character and show the century-long heritage of Mary Sumner House.
This meeting room features original stained-glass windows, glass chandeliers and has excellent natural light through the historic windows.

The space can accommodate up to 36 people, making it perfect for a small-medium
meeting. It is an ideal room for:

All furniture is flexible and can be re-configured to suit your specific needs which our team are happy to assist with. The Mary Sumner House room has hosted numerous meetings and workshops, providing teams with a great set-up for a productive meeting. We offer unlimited refreshments such as tea, coffee, biscuits, water at £6 (VAT inc.) per person and we also offer flexible catering options, giving you the freedom to bring in your preferred caterers, or we are happy to recommend our trusted caterers.

Mary Sumner Room - Theatre

Theatre-style Layout

The theatre-style layout offers teams the chance to present ideas and focus on a few individual speakers. This layout is perfect for annual reviews, product launches, or
an expert sharing knowledge and ideas.

Mary Sumner Room - Boardroom

Boardroom Layout

This set-up facilitates direct communication and is great for encouraging discussions and collaboration. Suitable for board discussions, interviews or any other meetings involving sharing ideas.

The Mary Sumner Room can accommodate a maximum of 24 people in a boardroom layout

Mary Sumner Room - Cabaret

Cabaret Layout

An open-table format encourages conversation and provides the opportunity for different team and group discussions. The cabaret layout is great for breakout sessions, training days or any other meetings.

The Mary Sumner Room can accommodate a maximum of 16 people in a cabaret layout

Meeting room technology

The room is equipped with a wall-mounted display screen and sound bar connected
via an HDMI cable, which is included in the venue hire fee. Additionally, a Logitech
video conferencing system is available for hire, compatible with MSTeams, Zoom,
Google Meet, WebEx, Cisco and other software providers. Our team can help you
with any technical set-up to ensure you have everything you need for your meeting.

Prime Westminster Location and Accessibility

Located in Westminster the heart of London, Mary Sumner House makes it easy for
all attendees to get to. We are nearby several major underground stations,
numerous bus routes and have parking facilities nearby.

Our standard booking timings are Monday to Friday:  

Morning Session 9am - 1pm £378.00 (VAT exempt)
Afternoon Session 1:30pm - 5:30pm £378.00 (VAT exempt)
Full Day 9am - 5:30pm £589.00 (VAT exempt)

Catering

Catering

We offer tea/coffee/biscuits/water in our smaller rooms, but not in the Conference Hall.  Lunch for these rooms needs to be ordered from an external caterer.
For the Conference Hall, refreshments and catering need to be ordered from an external caterer.

We recommend Spoilt for Choice or Sands Catering.
