Mary Sumner House
Located in the heart of Westminster, London, Mary Sumner House is a unique and affordable venue for meetings, workshops, conferences and events.
Just a short walk from Victoria, Westminster and St James’ Park tube stations, the venue is easily accessible from across London and from Heathrow and Gatwick airports. With Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and other iconic landmarks nearby, it offers a memorable setting for your event.
Choose from eight rooms and a conference hall, accommodating everything from intimate meetings of six to conferences for up to 120 people. Flexible layouts, including theatre, boardroom and cabaret styles, can be tailored to suit your event.
Each room is named after a pioneering woman who has helped shape history, offering a unique connection to the heritage and stories of Mothers’ Union.

Make your event memorable with a meeting room steeped in history. Designed by Claude W. Ferrier, Mary Sumner House was built to honour Mothers’ Union founder Mary Sumner and celebrate the organisation’s growing global impact.
Today, the building reflects 150 years of Mothers’ Union history, with a unique connection to the millions of members serving communities across the world.
The Memorial Chapel features original wood panelling, beautiful stained glass and century-old chairs gifted by Mothers’ Union members, many carrying personal dedications.
Throughout the building, you’ll find further examples of its rich history, including the stained glass windows in the Mary Sumner Room, featuring the Irish provincial arms and dedicated in memory of the 49,435 Irish men who died in the Great War. A striking stained glass window on the half-landing also commemorates Rev. E.C. Carter and his wife, who lost their lives on the Titanic.

Mary Sumner House offers assisted wheelchair access (Access Category 2) and access for delegates with mobility issues (Access Category 3) by way of the following:
- Ramp from street level into the building
- Lift to access Lower Ground, Ground, 1st & 2nd Floors for meeting rooms, and disable access toilet on 4th floor. Lift dimensions 1.20m (W) by 85cm (D). Doorway is 75cm wide.
- Stair lift for wheelchair uses to access the Conference Hall on the Lower Ground
- Disabled access Ladies toilet on 2nd floor, and unisex disabled access toilet on 4th floor
