Australia

Australia, the largest country in Oceania, has diverse geography and climate including a large desert area. There are areas of significant poverty across the country, particularly amongst Indigenous communities, and although unemployment is low by world standards, it adversely affects young people.

Mothers’ Union was established in Australia in 1892, among the first nations to adopt MU outside of the UK. Today there are over 6,000 members tackling the most urgent needs that affect communities. Their work includes parenting programmes, refugee support, hospital and prison outreach, school breakfast clubs, help for the homeless, marriage workshops, and initiatives aimed at strengthening families and communities.
