Rwanda

Rwanda, known as the “land of a thousand hills,” is in Central Africa, sharing a border with Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The country has transformed from a nation marked by the 1994 genocide into a place of refuge for those fleeing regional conflicts in the DRC and Burundi. With a growing economy supported by tourism and agricultural exports, the country continues to rebuild.

Since 1966, Mothers’ Union in Rwanda has grown to over 24,000 members actively engaging in initiatives to transform the lives of individuals, families, and whole communities. Responding to local needs, members work to uplift communities through health and nutrition programmes, parenting support, savings groups, vocational training, peacebuilding, literacy education, support for widows, and initiatives addressing gender-based violence and economic empowerment.
