Mothers’ Union in the Diocese of Chelmsford works in the heart of rural and urban communities. As a church charity working with and in our local parishes and communities, we work with young families and the older generation who find loneliness such a struggle.
In the Chemsford Diocese there is a network of 40+ branches with members of all ages, both men and women, married and single,separetad and divorced.Branches meet regularly to enjoy activities, listen to speakers, and to worship and pray together
Our members are involved in various activities supporting their local parishes and communities. This includes Gifting Bibles or knitting teddies for baptisms, supporting Messy Church and Sunday School, Catering for wedding preparation courses, Running baby toddler groups, coffee mornings and community drop-in sessions, knitting items for dementia sufferers, premature babies, and the seafarer's missions, Collecting items for those in need, including refugees, those in refuge accommodation and those supported by local Foodbanks, Knitting sheep for traveling nativities, Raising awareness of domestic abuse and supporting local domestic abuse services, Membership is open to anyone who has been baptized. If you have not been baptized you can still support our work by becoming a friend of MU or Supporting our Fundraising and activities, Our members and supporters play a vital role in supporting our local, national and worldwide programs, fighting poverty, injustice, and gender inequality. Many members hold positions of high responsibility in their parish churches.
In the Chelmsford Diocese there is a network of 60+ branches with members of all ages, married or single, separated and divorced and we have a couple of branches led by men.
Membership is open to anyone, male and female, single or married, of any faith or none and we welcome all who wish to support us; there being three alternative ways of doing this - Branch membership, Diocesan membership, for those who don't wish to or cannot be part of a branch, and Friend for those who wish to support our work. Whichever way you choose you will be part of the Mothers' Union family and able to share in our work.
