Mothers' Union Diocese of Dublin & Glendalough

Within this worldwide organisation we are part of the All Ireland body. The goal of Mothers' Union is to be specifically committed to strengthening and preserving family life and marriage, by our Christian faith through practical action. This practical action can be seen through the giving of self, in prayer, in voluntary work, and in helping those less fortunate than ourselves in whatever ways we can.

In Dublin & Glendalough we have 450 members in 20 branches situated throughout the diocese. We support a wide range of local projects and our biggest and longest running project is our knitting project where members of branches knit blankets and garments for the maternity and children’s hospitals, as well as hats and scarves for Mission for Seafarers and the Simon Community.

Membership of Mothers' Union is open to all those who have been baptised in the name of the Holy Trinity and declare their support for the aim and objectives of Mothers' Union. This can be as a Branch, Diocesan or Indoor Member.

Our Work:

• Knitting projects
• Supporting AFIA holidays
• Parenting workshops and courses
• Young members have their own programme and events aimed at supporting them and their families
• Annually, branches put together shoeboxes for a crèche in Darndale at Christmas
• Supporting Make a Mother's Day
• Supporting Simon Community – a team of volunteers who provide support all year round to the homeless in Dublin.

Becoming a diocesan member may either be by enrolment, which can be arranged and/or by the signing of a declaration.
