Mothers' Union Diocese of Glasgow & Galloway

The Diocese of Glasgow & Galloway covers a large area from Glasgow down to the Borders

Most Mothers' Union members in the diocese worship in their local Scottish Episcopal church. Members come together to meet annually for worship and fellowship at the Mothers' Union Spring Council/Lady Day, Festival Service, Mary Sumner Day and Autumn Council.

Throughout the year members sensitively spread the news of a God who loves and cares for us all by supporting families and nurturing faith in the context they find themselves.

We are small in number but have strong links to other charities, as well as church members and friends who help us expedite our projects.

Our work:

  • Support for prisoners and families in Low Moss and Greenock prisons
  • Support and raising awareness of families affected by domestic abuse and human trafficking
  • Knitting items such as Angel Pockets, gowns, bonding squares and octopi for the Princess Royal Maternity Hospital and Crosshouse Maternity Hospital
  • Support for residents in Nursing Homes with Fiddlemuffs, company, and Therapet Dogs
  • Running toddler groups and giving family support
  • Member produced food books for food banks
  • New baby parcels and toothpaste/brushes for Malawi
  • Collecting bras and pants for a charity supporting mothers and children in Africa
  • Monthly prayer diary for those in need of prayer support.
