Fundraise for Mothers' Union

Help us transform lives around the corner and around the world for generations to come

Your fundraising, your way

Holding your own fundraiser for Mothers’ Union? There are so many wonderful ways to raise funds for Mothers’ Union.

Whether you’ve got a great idea for a fundraiser already or you’re still looking for inspiration, find everything you need to make your fundraising a success.

The impact your fundraising could have

Your support is vital to help illiterate people learn to read and write, help prisoners reconnect with their families to reduce their chance of reoffending, support marginalised women to speak up for their rights, and much more.

£7 will train

A woman in Tanzania to find practical solutions to everyday problems, like learning farming techniques that work with the natural environment to ensure they have crops all year round.

£27 can help

A woman in Burundi complete a two-year course to learn to read and write, providing them with a basic skill that completely transforms their life.

£65 can start

A savings and credit association allowing group members to save collectively and provide each other with loans to buy household items, start businesses, and build a secure future for their families.

£100 can support

The training of Mothers' Union facilitators across the world to help deliver life-changing programmes.

Thank you

Whether you would like to support our latest fundraising appeal, take part in a sponsored event, or do something else, thank you for choosing to fundraise for Mothers’ Union. We couldn’t do it without you!

10 easy fundraising ideas

  1. Host a Seasonal Afternoon Tea

Request a donation for entry (e.g. £5–£10), serve tea and cake. Add a raffle or quiz to boost your donations. Do one each season (Spring, Summer, etc)

  1. Run a “Fill a Smarties Tube” Challenge

Give friends Smarties tubes and ask them to fill them with 20p or £1 coins. Just 25 x £1 coins = £25 per tube!

  1. Hold a Craft or Bake Sale

On behalf of Mothers’ Union, give homemade jam, chutney, knitted items, cakes or cards for a suggested donation amount. Great for church coffee mornings or fetes.

  1. Organise a Sponsored Walk or Prayer Walk

Choose a meaningful route (e.g. 15km for 150 years). Invite sponsorship from friends, family, or congregation.

  1. Host a Quiz or Games Night

Do it in your church hall or living room. Suggested donations per team will soon mount up. Plus you can offer refreshments, and add a raffle.

  1. Sell “Promise Vouchers”

Offer time or skills in return for donations: gardening, baking, ironing, dog-walking, lifts to appointments, etc.

  1. Run a Pop-Up Café or Soup Lunch

Simple soup, bread and a drink – ask for donations. A monthly or quarterly lunch could build community and regular donations.

  1. Seasonal Hampers or Gift Baskets

Create and raffle themed hampers: Christmas, summer treats, pamper nights. Ask for donations to fill them.

  1. Set Up a Book Swap or Mini Library

How about 50p to £1 per swap. Include puzzles, DVDs, or board games too.

  1. Hold a Plant or Seedling Sale

Grow from seed (cheap!), or take cuttings and pot them. Tie in with harvest or summer themes.
