Mothers’ Union collaborates with the Girls Brigade on new “Respectful Relationships” and “Respectful Communities” resources

Mothers’ Union is delighted to be working in partnership with The Girls’ Brigade England & Wales to develop two new educational programmes: Respectful Relationships and Respectful Communities.

Throughout our 150 year history, we have championed the safety, dignity, and voices of women and girls. This collaboration reflects that enduring commitment. Working alongside The Girls’ Brigade, The Clewer Initiative, and safeguarding charity thirtyone:eight, Mothers’ Union has helped shape resources that equip young people to build healthy, respectful relationships and contribute positively to their communities.

The Respectful Relationships and Respectful Communities programmes are designed to help girls and young people engage thoughtfully with real-world issues through expert-led, accessible, faith-based materials. Rooted in listening to lived experience and community-led action, the resources encourage empathy, inclusion, and compassion, while helping participants recognise their own worth and the value of others.

Steph Nunn, Mothers’ Union Director of Membership, said:

The partnership brings together complementary strengths: The Girls’ Brigade’s long-standing expertise in providing faith-based, engaging programmes for young women, and Mothers’ Union’s focus on supporting family life, promoting respectful relationships, and challenging injustice and violence. Together, we are helping to foster safe and respectful environments in which young people can flourish.

The new, expert-written materials are now being implemented within local Girls’ Brigade groups across England and Wales, supporting leaders as they guide girls in exploring what it means to live out respect, dignity, and faith in everyday life.
