Thy Kingdom Come 2026

Thy Kingdom Come (TKC) is a global ecumenical prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray from Ascension to Pentecost, 14-24 May.

Since it began in May 2016, God has grown TKC into a movement which unites more than a million Christians in prayer, in nearly 90% of countries worldwide, across 85 different denominations and traditions, so that friends and family, neighbours and colleagues might come to faith in Jesus Christ.

This year’s Thy Kingdom Come is all about the presence of God through His spirit. From the story of Ruth to the story of Gideon, from the story of Elijah to the story of the early church who waited for the promised Holy Spirit to come, over the 11 days TKC will explore a different Bible story each day, which demonstrates God’s transformative presence, power and love at work in the lives of people and places.

Look out for the day when Mothers’ Union is featured, with an interview featuring Kathleen Snow, MU Worldwide President, and Comfort Idowu-Fearon, Provincial President.

Our MU distinctive is in addition to praying for 5, we invite 1. This call echoes our triennium theme of Join Us, Join In! As well as an encouragement to prayer, in our 150th anniversary year, we are using this opportunity to invite one individual each to a Mothers’ Union event. Whether you have joined in Thy Kingdom Come before or not, we invite you to take part in this global movement of prayer.

There are lots of wonderful ways your church and branch can connect with the local community during TKC. Join us for midday prayer on the Mothers’ Union Facebook page, held Monday to Saturday at 12 noon. Combine a prayer event with an MU event, something suitable for all the family, or go on a Deanery Prayer Walk with friends, MU members or local churches to pray for your local area together.

TKC have produced a variety of resources available for the wider church, including 5 ideas for your church (or branch) on how to take part in Thy Kingdom Come, and resources for Ascension, Pentecost and all age worship.

For adults, the main resources this year are the Novena, written by Archbishop Sarah Mullally, and the Prayer Journal, written by the Reverand Canon Chris Russell.

For children and families, there is a selection of resources to help take part in Thy Kingdom Come, including some super fun resources from the Cheeky Pandas.
