Help women like Miriam break the cycle of poverty and save for a new tomorrow
Help women like Miriam break the cycle of poverty and save for a new tomorrow
This Christmas, your donation can create true, lasting change for women like Miriam, and entire communities in Uganda.
And there’s never been a better time to give. Between Tuesday 2 and Tuesday 9 December, every online donation will be doubled thanks to the Big Give. That means your gift will go twice as far, helping twice as many families build a future filled with dignity, security, and hope.

Miriam’s Story: Equipped, Encouraged, Empowered
In rural Uganda, 47% of the population lives in poverty. Many families survive on small-scale farming or casual labour, leaving them vulnerable to illness, bad weather, or rising prices. Without savings or support, even the smallest setback can tip them into crisis.
With your help, we can change that.
This year’s Christmas Appeal will help roll out the Kingdom Savings & Credit (KSC) Programme across four dioceses in Uganda, building on a successful pilot in Tanzania. Rooted in faith, community, and practical skills, the programme equips participants to:
- Form weekly savings groups
- Access small, life-changing loans
- Receive training in business, budgeting, and climate-resilient agriculture
- Build confidence, dignity and a vision for the future
At the heart of this programme is a powerful message: You are not defined by poverty. God has given you gifts and the power to use them.
‘We begin with the Bible…’
Miriam, a 65-year-old grandmother of 16 from the Diocese of Soroti, is one of the women whose life is being transformed through the KSC programme.
Each week, she and her neighbours meet to save money, share ideas, pray together, and grow their small businesses. Miriam now runs a cereal selling business. With the income she earns, she’s paid school fees for her grandchildren, hired labour to tend her garden, improved her home and even purchased bulls to grow her farming income. ‘We begin with the Bible,’ she says.
‘We remind each other that love must come first. If you treat people with care, if you put your heart into serving them, then your business will succeed.’
What’s most powerful is the change in how she sees herself:
‘Poverty used to feel like a life sentence. But now I see that with God’s help, I can build something lasting for my family, for my grandchildren, and for my community.’
What Your Gift Will Do
With your help, the programme will reach 1,200 new participants, primarily women, across four dioceses. Together, they will form 60 self-managed savings groups that become places of strength, support, encouragement and hope. And between 2 -9 December, every pound you give will be doubled:

Please share this opportunity with your friends, family, and church community. The more people who give, the more women we can reach and the more families can begin to thrive.
Together, we can lift communities out of poverty, one savings group at a time.
Let’s make this Christmas the start of a new tomorrow for Miriam, and for many more like her.
