Mothers’ Union in Ireland operates across a network of dioceses. Within each diocese, members play a vital role in both supporting global Mothers’ Union projects through fundraising, and responding to the specific needs of their local communities. Their outreach work is diverse and dynamic, often stepping in to fill gaps in support where other provision is lacking.
Across Ireland, members are engaged in a wide variety of initiatives, including organising ‘Away From It All’ (AFIA) holidays and days out for families and individuals facing hardship, parenting programmes and relationship support, prison ministry, running parent and toddler groups, activities for elderly people living with dementia, and support for students and single parents. They also campaign on issues such as gender-based violence, participating in the global 16 Days of Activism through silent vigils and lobbying for policy change.
