Mothers' Union Diocese of Kilmore, Elphin & Ardagh

Mothers' Union has 324 members in 18 branches across the diocese. Whilst membership in some of our branches is quite small, we never forget that we are part of a worldwide Christian organisation with over 4 million members throughout the world, and that we are united with them in prayer and worship. We share the same aims and objectives as we work to support marriage and Christian family life, and to help those who have not been so fortunate.

Our Action and Outreach unit coordinate all our projects that are aimed at supporting our local services and Mothers’ Union’s overseas work. We are always happy to enrol new members, membership of Mothers' Union is open to women and men, married, separated, divorced or single who have been baptised in the name of the Trinity and who accept our aims and objectives. All members of Mothers' Union share equal status, but there are different ways of belonging – branch, diocesan and indoor members.

Our Work:

• Knitting for A&E services at local hospitals
• Knitting prayer shawls for elderly members and baby blankets for newborns
• Knitting jumpers, hats and teddies for children in Zambia, Kenya (and other countries) where children can suffer hypothermia
• Supporting the Cregg House project for adults with severe learning disabilities
• Supporting the Never Alone project aimed at tackling teen suicide rates
• Filling shoeboxes for children at Christmas as part of Project Hope
