Uruguay

Uruguay borders Argentina to its west and Brazil to its north and east, with the Atlantic Ocean to the southeast. Uruguay is geographically the second-smallest nation in South America, after Suriname. Uruguay rates highly on most development indicators and is known for its well-developed social security, health, and educational systems. It is one of the few countries in Latin America and the Caribbean where the entire population has access to clean water. 

In Uruguay, the “Uruguayan Anglican Women’s group” are active in reaching out and serving the community. They run social outreach projects across the country aiming to improve family life conditions and give people dignity. These projects include:

• Home for AIDS patients and their families
• Supporting street children
• Vocational training for local women
• Family centres

Mothers' Union continue to build strong links with the Anglican Women’s group in Uruguay and hope to explore soon further ways in which we can work together.
