Thy Kingdom Come

Thy Kingdom Come (TKC) is a global ecumenical prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray from Ascension to Pentecost.

04 Apr 2025

Since it began in May 2016, God has grown TKC from a dream of possibility into a movement which unites more than a million Christians in prayer, in nearly 90% of countries worldwide, across 85 different denominations and traditions- so that friends and family, neighbours and colleagues might come to faith in Jesus Christ.

This year, Thy Kingdom Come celebrates its tenth anniversary. For ten years we have been praying Thy Kingdom Come. In particular, each year, we have been praying for five people we know, that they may come to know the love of God for themselves. Our MU distinctive is in addition to praying for 5,  we invite 1. This call echoes our triennium theme of Join Us, Join In! This year, as we continue in this pilgrimage of prayer, we focus on the prayer that Jesus taught us: the prayer that teaches us how to pray and live, the prayer that contains this amazing hope, Thy Kingdom Come!

Once again, Mothers’ Union are asking members to ‘Pray for Five, Invite One.’ So as well as an encouragement to pray, we are using this as an opportunity to invite one individual each to a Mothers’ Union event.

Thy Kingdom Come 2025 runs from Ascension to Pentecost, 29th May to 8th June 2025.

Taking Part

During the 11 days of Thy Kingdom Come, it is hoped that everyone who takes part will:

  • Deepen and further their own relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Pray for 5 of their friends or family to come to faith in Jesus
  • Pray for the empowerment of the Spirit that we would be effective in our witness

Whether you have joined in Thy Kingdom Come before or not, we invite you to take part in this global movement of prayer.

MU Activities for Thy Kingdom Come

Praying Together

Monday to Saturday each week MU gathers together for Midday Prayers. To help us pray, Thy Kingdom Come we will have some special guests lead us: our Worldwide President, Global Members and our Central Chaplin. We will be praying together for people to come to know the love, hope and peace of Christ for themselves. Join us each day of TKC for Midday Prayers on our Facebook

Ecumenical outreach

Jesus Christ is the light of the world and we are called to be the light of the world as we bear His image. As TKC is an ecumenical endeavour, your MU branch could host a prayer event to which you invite the wider church community, setting up various prayer stations that highlight the global work of MU.

Kingdom Crafting

Many people in our wider community love crafting and would like to learn more about what crafting has to offer. As part of Thy Kingdom Come, ‘Pray for Five, Invite One’, why don’t you invite a friend to join you for a MU craft event. A crafting event is a great way to share skills, build relationships and show that MU crafts transform communities around the world.

Deanery Prayer Walk

Walking is good for us, it wakes us up physically, mentally and spiritually. Why not invite your friends to join you on a walk of the deanery? Or with your local Mothers' Union branch, you could coordinate your local churches to pray together. As you pass schools, hospitals, businesses etc, stop and pray God’s blessing that ‘His will be done in that place’.

Find out more about going on a deanery prayer walk.

TKC have produced a variety of resources available for the wider church. These are free, you are only required to pay postage and packaging.

TKC Resources and activities for all ages

For adults, the main resources this year are the Novena, written by Archbishop Stephen Cottrell, and the Prayer Journal, which this year "features contributions from a range of voices across different denominations and traditions."

For children and families, there will be a brand-new series of Cheeky Pandas animations with accompanying activity packs and assembly plan, which can be used at church, at home, or school.

For young people, there will be a brand-new video series produced by Christian youth ministry The Way UK.
