Welcome to Mothers' Union in the Diocese of Oxford. We are a dynamic charity seeking to bring God’s love to families of all shapes and sizes in a variety of ways to suit their needs.

Mothers' Union works in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire to bring God's love to others, whether that be through local activities like supporting children in their own church, or projects and campaigns that everyone can join in, such as our Hospital Project and activities we do to raise awareness of gender-based violence. We encourage our members to grow spiritually through quiet days whilst prayer and Bible study underpins all that we do to support our communities and the wider world. Membership is open to all who have been baptised. If you have not yet been baptised but are considering membership, please get in touch.

Our work

  • Arranging Away From It All holidays
  • Supporting parents of children admitted to the John Radcliffe Hospital
  • Providing emergency toiletry items for patients in hospitals all over the diocese
  • Helping students and foodbank clients with our Starving Students Survival Guide and Foodbank recipe card
  • Knitting and sewing – twiddle muffs and fiddle quilts for dementia sufferers; baby clothes, angel pockets and quilts for neonatal units
  • Supporting parishes with baptism and wedding preparation
  • Sending Christmas cards to prisoners and giving Mothers’ Union Mothering Sunday cards for prisoners to give to their mums
  • Offering parenting groups
  • ‘Stories on the Street’ – We are excited to be involved in this new pilot initiative taking place in east Berkshire. This is a Church & Community Mobilisation process which enables parishes to engage with their communities in a meaningful way by bringing the Bible to life through art and drama. It is beginning to be taken up by other dioceses around the UK
  • Supporting the Balsam Family Project in Didcot.

You don't have to be a mother (or even a woman) to be part of Mothers’ Union in the Diocese of Oxford – we welcome everyone who shares our values. There are lots of ways to show God's love to our communities. Please visit the membership pages on our website to find out how you can join in.
