Mothers’ Union Statement on Black Lives Matter

#blacklivesmatter

05 Jun 2020

Mothers’ Union has worked for over 140 years towards the vision of a world where God’s love is shown through loving, respectful and flourishing relationships.  We stand in solidarity with all who face discrimination of any form, including  based on the colour of their skin.

Around the world, communities are being fractured through increasing inequality, violence and poverty. Bound together in our shared belief that every human is created equal in the eyes of God, as a membership movement of 4 million around the world, we stand in unity with our Sisters and Brothers everywhere and support the call for an end to injustice and systemic racism. 8 June 2020 will mark 2 weeks since the tragic death of George Floyd, and we encourage our members to use this date to reflect, pray and unite to help find a peaceful, compassionate and lasting solution to end racism, wherever it is found.

On Monday 8 June, Sheran Harper, Mothers’ Union Worldwide President, will lead a short reflection around these issues as an extension to our normal Midday Prayers, which are streamed live at 12pm (BST) every day on the Mothers’ Union Facebook page.
