Mothers’ Union Worldwide President, Kathleen Snow, to Join Anglican Delegation at Inauguration of Pope Leo XIV

On Sunday 18 May, Kathleen Snow, Worldwide President of Mothers’ Union, will join an Anglican delegation attending the inauguration of Pope Leo XIV.

15 May 2025

The delegation will include Anglican primates and leaders and will be led by The Most Revd Leonard Dawea, Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Melanesia. Archbishop Dawea serves on the Primates’ Standing Committee and is a member of the International Anglican-Roman Catholic Commission for Unity and Mission (IARCCUM).

This delegation represents the prayers and support of Anglicans around the world as Pope Leo XIV begins his papal ministry. It also reaffirms the Anglican Communion’s commitment to walk in friendship and partnership with the Roman Catholic Church, continuing to strengthen bonds of unity, dialogue, and shared mission.

Speaking about the honour of representing Mothers’ Union and Anglican women at this historic occasion, Kathleen Snow said:

“Like many Christians around the world, I was incredibly moved when, on the day of his election, Pope Leo spoke of how Christ helps to build bridges through dialogue and encounter as we strive to be one people living in peace.

To me, this is the embodiment of what Mothers’ Union strives for in all our work: ending poverty and injustice for all people, from all walks of life. I am proud to express the support and prayers of our members at this very special and holy event.”

Mothers’ Union continues to stand in solidarity with the wider Christian family, working to build bridges, support families, and uphold justice for all people - guided by faith, compassion, and community.
