Neo-natal stethoscopes for Worthing Hospital Baby Unit

25 Feb 2019

At the beginning of February on a Monday afternoon, we were in the Baby Unit of Worthing Hospital with our Ministry of Cake. A tiny little baby had been transferred in by ambulance from another hospital. We chatted to staff and heard about a new neo-natal stethoscope which was on the “Wish List” of Abi, who is the Sister in Charge of the unit. How it would help to hear the heartbeat of the baby better. The stethoscopes were fluorescent orange in colour, so that everyone would know that they were for the Baby Unit. They are expensive at £80 each and under normal circumstances I wouldn’t get Mothers’ Union involved. However ....... it was coming up to Lent, the PCC of Christ Church had sent us an unexpected windfall, and our AGM was coming up.

At our AGM everyone agreed that we would give 3 stethoscopes as a gift for Mothering Sunday and 1 instead of an Easter Egg at Easter. Members agreed to give £1.50p each towards them. We were then given some very generous donations and actually gave 3 on Mothering Sunday and 2 for Easter. We had them laser engraved with ‘Mothers Union’. Abi and the staff at Worthing Hospital Baby Unit are delighted. A HUGE THANK YOU!!!
We Love because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19
