Sewing for NHS and KeyWorkers in Rochester Diocese

During lockdown an appeal was put out by a Maidstone group Sewing for NHS and keyworkers during COVID 19.

08 Jul 2020

Several members from Coxheath Area branch volunteered to help, encouraged by one member who became one out of the 22 co-ordinators for the group. Not a sewer herself she encouraged others members to sew or donate materials and accessories. So sew and donate we did, from making scrub bags, washable sleeves and gowns, to scrub sets and even ear savers. Donating bed covers, buttons, elastic, cottons etc. contributing to the 23,000 items made, by 2,025 members.

What an amazing achievement as the group has now been nominated for a National Diversity Award, celebrating Unity in Society. We were pleased to be part of this group and making our contribution . New friendships have also been formed.

Our co-ordinator made her own contribution to the group by playing her violin.
