Zimbabwe

Located in southern Africa, Zimbabwe is bordered by South Africa, Botswana, Zambia and Mozambique. 

Once known as “the bread basket of Africa”, in the last few decades Zimbabwe has struggled to feed its own people due to severe droughts and its economy faces severe challenges. 

Unemployment and poverty are endemic and political tensions continue to impact daily life. Many Zimbabweans have left the country in search of work in South Africa and other countries.

Despite these challenges, Mothers’ Union remains a strong force within communities. 

The 21,000 plus members purposefully seek out to engage with those less privileged and most vulnerable, working in hospitals, prisons, maternity clinics even the streets, in order to be a part of their lives rebuilding relationships, self-esteem and belonging.
