“Blessed is the person who sees the need, recognises the responsibility, and actively becomes the answer” (William Arthur Ward). That best explains how Mothers’ Union operates – working through our local membership with community-based projects; we reach out to meet the spiritual and practical needs of families.

Mothers’ Union in the Diocese of Rochester welcomes all men and women to join whether single or married. We include the choice to have individual membership or join with local branches.

Our work:

  • We are present at the large diocesan event in the summer in the grounds of Leysdown Castle where we reach out to families and our communities, giving out information packs and teddies etc.
  • We make welcome bags for women at the women’s refuge
  • We knit fiddle muffs, activity quilts and comfort teddies for dementia sufferers
  • We have donated items and worked with refugees in Calais
  • We run the Inspired event that has helped encourage members to get more involved in local projects and programmes
  • We make a regular prayer pilgrimage every year on Mary Sumner Day
  • Supporting Toddler Praise events
  • Supporting baby units with clothes
