The Diocese of St Asaph is diverse and beautiful within its nearly 100 mile length. From the Conwy Valley in the west, across the north Wales coast, along the border with English counties and then into the heart of Wales towards Newtown.
Today, our branches are arranged into family groups within their Diocesan Mission Areas .
The trustees and officials meet regularly throughout the year coming together with spring and autumn members meetings held in Wrexham. Up-to-date information is put on Facebook and on the diocesan website.
In 2023 all branches supported the work of their local Domestic Abuse Unit. All members were involved in one way or another depending on their skills and abilities. Over 500 items were donated to women's refuges which included toiletries, food, knitted Christmas tree decorations and other gifts. The year concluded with daily prayer at St Asaph Cathedral between 25th November until 10th December at 1.03pm acknowledging the statistic that one in three women will experience abuse in their lifetime.
Our Work:
Members can be involved in the following projects
- Several branches have connections to their local Womens’ Refuge/Domestic Abuse Support Units/Refugee families - by providing basic toiletries, bedding, toys etc. Most branches give supplies to foodbanks
- Branches regularly present emergency toiletry bags to Glan Clwyd Hospital, Wrexham Maelor hospital and Oswewstry hospital
- Knitters make twiddle muffs and premature baby clothes; also hats for seafarers
- Berwyn Prison Wrexham - over 170 Christmas gifts were purchased in 2023 through the Prison Fellowship Angel Tree project
- Our holiday scheme AFIA , has been redefined with funding only available in 2024 for group day trips.
There is a deep desire to meet, pray and get involved in family issues whatever they may be. Within this beautiful part of the country there are many hardships and issues that Mothers' Union does not shy away from and sometimes it’s in doing the little things that can mean a lot.

The policy of the Church in Wales is to be bilingual. We include Welsh and English hymns and prayers in services and meetings.
