Here's how you can get involved with Thy Kingdom Come
Join us as we pray Thy Kingdom Come, this 29th May -8th June.
Have you considered how you will pray with us as we unite for Thy Kingdom Come?
Join Us, Join In!
This year, Thy Kingdom Come celebrates its tenth anniversary. For ten years we have been praying Thy Kingdom Come. In particular, each year, we have been praying for five people we know, that they may come to know the love of God for themselves. Our MU distinctive is in addition to praying for 5, we invite 1. This call echoes our triennium theme of Join Us, Join In! This year, as we continue in this pilgrimage of prayer, we focus on the prayer that Jesus taught us: the prayer that teaches us how to pray and live, the prayer that contains this amazing hope, Thy Kingdom Come!
Prayer Stations:
As the focus this year is The Lord's Prayer, our friends at TKC have produced this prayer station resource focussed on the Lord's Prayer: find the resource here.
Here are a couple of other ways you can pray for those around the corner and around the world.
Modern-day slavery, also known as human trafficking, is the exploitation of human beings and their bodies. More humans are trapped in slavery than ever before in human history, estimated to be well over 50 million. To put that into perspective, that stands at 5.4 people out of every 1000.
As followers of Christ, we are called to stand against oppression and advocate for justice. Reflect on how you can actively engage in the fight against modern slavery. Consider joining one of Mothers’ Union’s Communities of Interest to help raise awareness, and advocate for policy changes. Pray for courage and boldness to speak out against injustice and to be a voice for the voiceless. Ask God to empower you to take practical steps toward combating modern slavery in your community and beyond.
We work tirelessly against domestic abuse, in every form that it takes, by raising awareness and standing with women and girls as we call out for #NoMore1in3. But we also need to pray. Millions are facing abuse, from the spouse of the church leader, to the mum at the school gates to the isolated colleague. You can create an origami dove as part of our RISE UP campaign, and use it to pray for those affected by domestic violence. Pray all will find full healing and restoration, for their perpetrators to receive justice and for courage for survivors to walk away from their abusers.
You can find the rest of our interactive prayer station ideas here.
You can also take part in a prayer walk with others from your branch or community as you pave the pavements and pray for God to transform the lives of those around you.
Pray for Five, Invite One:
Our theme for Thy Kingdom Come this year is to pray for five, invite one. Together, we are praying for five friends, family or colleagues to come to know the love of Jesus for themselves, and to invite one of them to an event at Mothers' Union, welcoming them into a lifelong community built on faith and fellowship.
We would love to see how you are engaging with Thy Kingdom Come this year. Send us your stories and photos to communications@mothersunion.org or tag us on social media @officialmothersunion
