Mothers' Union Diocese of St Edmundsbury & Ipswich

Welcome to Mothers’ Union in the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich which covers the county of Suffolk.

Across the diocese we have around 600 members, with thirty groups that meet whether as a branch or fellowship group. Our members serve their churches and communities with projects that help and support local families; coming together in fellowship to pray, fundraise, campaign, and share.

The work and projects undertaken by Mothers' Union members are underpinned by prayer. There are many different forms that are used - quiet days, our emergency prayer chain, prayer groups, members join for midday prayer each day and the Wave of Prayer. Our diocese is linked with four overseas dioceses - Lake Malawi in Malawi, Byumba in Rwanda, Jalingo in Nigeria and Lucknow in India.

Membership is open to all who have been baptised. If you have not yet been baptised but are considering membership, please get in touch.

Our work:

• Away From It All (AFIA) holidays for families in need
• Befriending outreach
• Supporting local Women’s refuges
• Supporting the chaplaincy at HMP Highpoint
• Knitting and sewing items for local hospitals and the Seafarers Mission
• Projects to support parents such as grants for school uniforms
• Projects to nurture faith including baptism outreach
• Service to the community through Lunch clubs and drop in cafes
• Raising awareness of domestic abuse
• Raising awareness of modern-day slavery
